From Neighbors to Lifelong Friends: The Story of Chris and Norma

When Chris Salvatore moved into a West Hollywood apartment complex in 2013, little did he know he’d find a lifelong friend just across the hall. Norma Cook, an 85-year-old woman with a cat named Hermes, soon became much more than a neighbor to Chris.

Their friendship grew quickly as they spent afternoons sharing drinks and stories. Years later, as Norma’s health faded, Chris faced a difficult choice: care for her himself or see her move into a care home she wished to avoid. He chose care and compassion, inviting her to live with him.

Chris even started a GoFundMe to support the medical costs of caring for Norma at home. Together they faced her final days with dignity and humor. Norma affectionately called Chris “the grandson she never had,” a testament to the love they shared.
