San Jose Woman’s Home Flooded with Amazon Returns—Here’s What Happened

Kay, from San Jose, California, was overwhelmed when hundreds of Amazon packages began arriving at her home over the course of a year. Unlike the usual excitement around online orders, Kay’s deliveries were all filled with the same product: faux-leather car seat covers.

The packages came from a Chinese seller, Liusandedian, whose customers returned items that didn’t fit. Instead of sending returns back to the company, the return labels mistakenly listed Kay’s address, causing her home to become a dumping ground for unwanted products.

Despite her efforts to refuse deliveries and contact Amazon, the problem persisted, with parcels blocking her driveway and even preventing her disabled mother from entering the house. Amazon reportedly advised her to donate or return the packages via mail carriers, though this was later denied.

Amazon requires international sellers to have a U.S. return address or offer refunds without returns. Sellers must provide prepaid shipping labels quickly, or Amazon refunds customers and charges the seller.

After ABC’s KGO reported the story, Amazon apologized and worked to remove the packages. Kay shared her relief, grateful that someone finally heard her after months of frustration.
