My Dad’s Wedding to the Woman He Cheated With — And My Brother’s Secret Plan

I’m Tessa, 25, and when my dad invited me and my 12-year-old brother Owen to his wedding with the woman he cheated on our mom with, I knew it would be painful. What I didn’t expect was Owen quietly setting a plan in motion that would make the day unforgettable—for reasons Dad never imagined.

Owen used to be the sweetest kid, always caring and kind. But everything changed when Dad left us for Dana, a woman from his work. Mom found out by accident, and our family fell apart. Mom tried to hold on, but Dad moved in with Dana soon after the divorce.

When Dad called to say he was marrying Dana and wanted us there, I was shocked. He said it was a fresh start, but Owen was furious. After pressure from family to forgive, Owen agreed to go—but I sensed he had something planned.

Two weeks before the wedding, Owen asked me to order itching powder. I thought it was a prank and didn’t ask more. On the wedding day, Owen was calm and quiet. At Dana’s sister’s house, everything looked perfect. Dad hugged us awkwardly, and Owen smiled flatly.

Before the ceremony, Owen took Dana’s jacket to hang it up. Then, during the vows, Dana started scratching uncontrollably. She left the ceremony in tears and came back disheveled. The wedding was ruined.

Dad asked what happened, and I gave a vague answer. Owen later told me Dana was embarrassed but not broken like Mom. He wanted Dana to feel a bit of the helplessness Mom felt.

Dad hasn’t talked to us since. Dana’s family is angry. Our grandparents say we embarrassed them. But I don’t regret it. Owen’s small act was his way of standing up for Mom, and I think it was worth it.
