Lyft Driver Refuses Ride for Plus-Sized Rapper, Sparks Controversy

Dajua Blanding, who performs as Dank Demoss, has accused a Lyft driver of refusing to let her into his car because of her weight. When the driver arrived at her Detroit-area home, he told her his vehicle was smaller and his tires were too worn to drive with her weight safely inside. Blanding disputed this, saying she had fit in smaller cars before.

Blanding’s lawsuit against Lyft argues discrimination under state law, with attorneys highlighting the dangers of denying rides based on weight. Lyft condemned the driver’s behavior and said it is looking into the incident.

Online responses vary widely, with some users defending the driver’s safety concerns and others criticizing the refusal as discriminatory and harmful.
