Following his release from prison after serving time for rape, Christian Brueckner, widely believed to be the main suspect in Madeleine McCann’s 2007 disappearance, stunned witnesses by claiming he could “bring the scandal of the century to an end.”

Seen in a phone store with an electronic monitoring tag, Brueckner told staff he had information that could exonerate him and reveal the truth behind the case. His cryptic reference to USB storage devices sparked speculation about new evidence.

The McCann case remains one of the most persistent mysteries, with British, Portuguese and German investigators still seeking answers. Despite mounting circumstantial evidence against Brueckner, no formal charges have been filed in relation to Madeleine’s disappearance.
