Emma Edwards was only nine when she was diagnosed with leukemia, a fight she bravely faced with the love and support of her parents, Alina and Aaron. When doctors told them there was nothing more they could do, her family decided to make Emma’s dream a reality—marrying her childhood sweetheart, DJ.

Though their first attempt to have a wedding at school was stopped, this time the community and the Make-A-Wish Foundation helped plan a heartfelt ceremony. On June 29, 2023, Emma, wearing a beautiful purple dress, was wheeled down the aisle by her father. DJ stood waiting, full of joy, as they exchanged rings and promises before their family and friends.

Emma’s happy day gave her moments of joy that meant the world to her and her family. But just weeks later, on July 11, Emma lost her battle with leukemia. Her family remembers her as a brave, loving, and inspiring child whose spirit will live on forever. Emma’s story reminds us how precious life is and how love can shine brightly, even in the darkest times.
