Trump’s Azerbaijan-Albania Confusion Laughed Off by European Leaders

In a recent summit appearance in Copenhagen, President Donald Trump’s ongoing confusion between the countries Armenia and Albania was met with laughter from European leaders. Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama playfully told French President Emmanuel Macron that he owed an apology for “not congratulating us” on the peace deal that Trump claimed to have brokered.

The light-hearted moment occurred as the leaders recalled how Trump had stated on Fox News that he had ended the war between “Azerbaijan and Albania,” an error widely ridiculed. The real deal came earlier this year when Trump negotiated a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan at the White House which remains pending formal signature.

Despite the errors and mispronunciations, the US president proudly counts this among his diplomatic achievements, provoking both criticism and humor among global leaders.
