Man Reflects on Childhood Testimony That Sent Mother to Prison for Sister’s Mu-rder

A.J. Hutto, now a grown man, recounts giving testimony at the age of 7 that led to his mother Amanda Lewis’s conviction for the murder of his sister Adrianna. The heart-wrenching case from Florida remains impactful more than a decade later.

A.J. vividly recalled to police and in court how his mother “dunked” his sister’s head in the pool, explaining the abuse and neglect in their home. His drawings were introduced as evidence corroborating his eyewitness account.

Lewis maintained innocence, claiming the death was accidental, but her denial was rejected by jurors after only short deliberation.

Since then, A.J. has built a life away from the past trauma, raised by adoptive parents, finding stability and compassion.

His willingness to revisit the painful memories publicly serves as a testament to resilience and the importance of child protection.
