Eric Dane’s Hospital Stay After Fall Demonstrates ALS Progression and Iron Will

Actor Eric Dane, famous for playing “McSteamy” on Grey’s Anatomy, was hospitalized in September 2025 after an ALS-related fall, preventing his appearance at the Emmy Awards. Dane first disclosed his ALS diagnosis in April 2025, sharing the rapid progression with heartfelt honesty.

The progressive disease affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing muscle loss and mobility impairment. Dane’s right arm and hand are severely impacted, and he fears further decline.
