Military police officer Jeferson Luiz Sagaz and his partner Ana Carolina Silva died tragically after passing out in an electrically heated bathtub following a night of celebration for their young daughter’s birthday in São José, Brazil.
The couple had left their daughter with family before heading out to a nightclub and checking into the Dallas Motel. Family raised concern after the couple failed to return the next day. CCTV footage captured the couple entering the bathroom and later losing consciousness in extremely hot water.
Toxicology reports showed the presence of alcohol and cocaine. Medical examiners attributed their deaths to exogenous poisoning with heatstroke and dehydration, exacerbated by a space heater’s operation in the room.
Their daughter is now under the care of relatives, as investigations continue.
