Laken Snelling, a 21-year-old University of Kentucky senior and member of the STUNT cheerleading team, has been charged after a deceased newborn was found inside her home. Police responded to a report about an unresponsive infant and discovered the child wrapped in a towel inside a black trash bag hidden in a closet.
Snelling told officers she gave birth and tried to conceal the evidence, leading to her arrest and charges of Abuse of a Corpse, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Concealing the Birth of an Infant. The baby, a male born in late August, had an inconclusive autopsy result, with further investigations ongoing.
Prior to this tragedy, Snelling was reportedly in a relationship with ex-college basketball player Connor Jordan. The University of Kentucky confirmed Snelling’s withdrawal from school and suspension from the cheerleading team.
