At 31, Limb Lengthening Patient Reflects on Life-Changing Surgery

Maryland native Chandler Crews was born with achondroplasia and, after reaching 3’10” as an adult, struggled with basic activities. In 2010, she underwent her first of multiple limb lengthening surgeries that extended her legs and arms, resulting in a height increase to just under 5 feet.

The process was challenging but ultimately transformative, providing relief from pain caused by bowed legs and enhancing independence. Chandler emphasizes the importance of choosing surgery for personal needs, not cosmetic reasons.

The American's operations reportedly cost around $2 million (charmcitychandler/Instagram)

Crews now runs her own advocacy company to help and give hope to others (charmcitychandler/Instagram)
