In the wake of the deadly Texas floods, a son has shared the emotional voicemail his father left before being swept away by floodwaters. The disaster, which struck on July 4 after heavy rains caused the Guadalupe River to flood, has left more than 100 dead and many missing.
Jeff Ramsey, 61, was staying with his wife Tanya and their dog in an airstream camper at a park in Kerrville when the flood hit. His son Jake described how his father called him and his sister while trapped, leaving a short but powerful message.
“He told me, ‘Buddy, I love you so much. It doesn’t look like we’re going to make it. Tell Rachey I love her,’” Jake said. The voicemail was haunting, with rushing water audible and a tone of fear in Jeff’s voice.
Jeff also warned family members nearby, calling his wife’s brother and mother to alert them of the danger. Jake explained, “He saved their lives because the cabin they were in was destroyed by the flood.”
This tragic tale shows a father’s love and bravery in the face of disaster, leaving a poignant farewell to his children.
