A young tourist visiting Greece has fallen seriously ill after collapsing just after her boyfriend proposed to her at a famous church on Lefkada island. The 24-year-old woman from the Czech Republic was at the Church of Prophet Elias in Egklouvi when the incident occurred.
The church is known for its stunning views and is located at one of the highest points on the island. The couple had planned the proposal during their visit, but tragedy struck shortly after the man proposed.
Emergency teams, including firefighters, paramedics, and military personnel, rushed to the scene and took the woman to Lefkada Hospital. She was later transferred to the regional capital, Ioannina, for specialized care.
Doctors diagnosed her with a cerebral hemorrhage, a dangerous form of stroke involving bleeding inside the brain. This condition can cause a range of serious symptoms and requires urgent treatment.
Symptoms of a brain bleed can include intense headaches, nausea, vomiting, weakness or numbness on one side of the body, difficulty speaking, seizures, vision loss, and problems with balance.
Brain hemorrhages can result from various causes such as trauma, high blood pressure, aneurysms, or other medical conditions. The woman’s condition is currently critical.
