Mom Shares Heartbreaking Skin Cancer Journey After Mistaking It for a Bug Bite

Australian mother Krystal Maeyke, 39, is speaking out about her battle with skin cancer after a small spot on her forehead was mistaken for a mosquito bite. Diagnosed with stage four metastatic bowel cancer in 2023, Krystal initially thought her stomach pains were due to a food intolerance.

Though fit and active, the pain became unbearable, but her first doctor dismissed it. She also suffered from night sweats, which she attributed to the hot weather. Eventually, a biopsy confirmed her cancer diagnosis.

Krystal underwent painful treatment, which left a burning sore on her forehead and affected her mental wellbeing. She hopes her story will encourage others to watch for unusual symptoms and protect their skin from the sun.

She has set up a GoFundMe page to help support her and her 12-year-old son as they face this difficult time.
