Jessica McLaughlin, a 24-year-old 7-Eleven employee in Los Angeles, died after a disturbing incident at work. On June 24, Jessica was allegedly attacked by a female manager who sat on her during a confrontation. Her brother Sean recounted that the manager held Jessica down, making it impossible for her to breathe, and attacked coworkers who tried to help.
After Jessica got free, she collapsed and stopped breathing. The family said the manager pulled Jessica’s hair and tried to erase security footage before leaving on a bike. Police responded and found Jessica unconscious. She was taken to the hospital, but her brain had been deprived of oxygen for over ten minutes, and she was declared brain-dead.
Jessica’s family made the difficult decision to turn off life support after consulting with doctors. They were by her side in her final moments. The LAPD is investigating the case as a homicide and has video evidence, but it has not been released. No arrests have been made.
A GoFundMe was set up to help Jessica’s family. 7-Eleven released a statement expressing condolences, confirmed the manager’s termination, and said they are fully cooperating with the police investigation.
