A concerned husband visited his doctor, seeking advice on how to handle his wife’s unpredictable temper. The doctor listened attentively, nodding along as the man described his wife’s daily outbursts.
The doctor’s solution was unexpected, yet ingenious. “Whenever your wife starts to lose her temper,” he instructed, “take a glass of water and swish it around in your mouth. Don’t swallow it until she either leaves the room or calms down.”
The husband was skeptical, but desperate for a solution. He followed the doctor’s advice, and two weeks later, he returned to the doctor’s office looking refreshed and revitalized.
“I don’t know how it works, Doc,” the husband exclaimed, “but that glass of water trick really did the trick! Every time my wife started to get angry, I’d swish the water around, and she’d calm right down.”
The doctor smiled knowingly. “It’s not the water that’s doing the trick,” he revealed. “It’s the fact that you’re keeping your mouth shut.” The husband’s eyes widened in understanding as he realized that sometimes, the simplest solutions can be the most effective.
