Trump Weighs In, Expresses Sympathy for Royal Family Over Andrew Scandal

Amid the ongoing fallout from the Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein scandal, former President Donald Trump has voiced his opinion on the matter. When asked for his thoughts on the British monarchy’s decision to strip Andrew of his royal titles, Trump responded with sympathy for the institution, calling the situation a “terrible thing” for the family.

Speaking informally, the former president did not comment on the specific allegations against Andrew but focused on the broader impact on the Royal Family. “It’s a terrible thing that’s happened to the family,” Trump said. “That’s been a tragic situation. It’s too bad. I feel badly for the family.” His remarks highlight the personal sympathy he holds for the monarchy as an institution, rather than addressing the legal and ethical questions at the center of the case.

The decision by King Charles to remove his brother’s titles and relocate him from his Windsor mansion marks a decisive break between the monarchy and the lingering Epstein scandal. The controversy was recently reignited by the posthumous memoir of Virginia Giuffre, who alleged she was trafficked to Andrew as a teenager. Although Andrew has consistently denied all allegations, the out-of-court settlement and continued public outrage have made his position within the royal family untenable.

Trump’s comments come as he campaigns for a return to the White House. His focus on the family’s plight aligns with his previous statements of admiration for the British monarchy. Meanwhile, Buckingham Palace has made it clear that its actions were necessary, explicitly stating its sympathy for the victims of abuse, a move seen as an effort to finally draw a line under a chapter that has caused significant reputational damage to the crown.
