“Stabbed Her Mother to Save Myself”: Former Anchor’s 911 Call Revealed in Homicide Case

New details have emerged in the homicide case involving former Fox news anchor Angelynn Mock, who is accused of murdering her 80-year-old mother. According to Sedgwick County dispatchers, Mock stated during a 911 call that she “stabbed her mother to save herself.” This claim is now at the center of a first-degree murder investigation after police found the victim, Anita Avers, with multiple stab wounds in her Wichita home.

The incident unfolded on the morning of October 31st. Before the 911 call was made, a neighbor, Alyssa Castro, witnessed a blood-soaked Mock approaching her vehicle to request a phone. Castro described the suspect as being covered in blood from her hands to her body. After obtaining the phone, Mock returned to the residence and contacted authorities herself.

Police responding to the scene located Mock outside the home with visible cuts on her hands. Inside, they discovered Avers unresponsive in her bed. The victim was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead within 30 minutes of arrival. The swift and violent nature of the attack has raised numerous questions, with Mock’s statement to dispatchers providing a potential, yet unclear, motive of self-defense.

Mock, who worked as a morning and evening fill-in anchor for KTVI Fox 2 from 2011 to 2015, was promptly arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail. She is being held on a $1 million bond. The investigation remains active as law enforcement works to corroborate the details of Mock’s account and determine the precise circumstances that led to the fatal stabbing.
