Following public outcry over an Instagram comment that referred to slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk as “hateful,” Amanda Seyfried has issued a statement clarifying her intentions.
The actress, known for Mean Girls and Mamma Mia!, explained that her remark was addressing the harsh and divisive rhetoric Kirk was known for, not condoning his murder. This clarification came after many perceived her comment as insensitive or disrespectful to the victim’s memory.

In her Instagram post, Seyfried stressed the tragedy of violence in the U.S. and honored the pain felt by Charlie Kirk’s loved ones. “The country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths,” she wrote, appealing for common ground among Americans.
She also shared a quote emphasizing the dangers of inviting violence into political discourse and called for reflection on how language can escalate tensions.
