Wildlife explorer Paul Rosolie decided to do something no one else dared: let himself be swallowed alive by an Amazonian anaconda to raise awareness about environmental destruction.
He wore a specially made suit designed to protect him from the snake’s crushing grip and equipped with an oxygen supply and cameras for documentation.

As the anaconda latched onto his arm and coiled him tightly, Rosolie’s fear grew. “She’s got my arms pinned. She knows there’s nothing I can do,” he said.
His heart pounded, and breathing became hard, but the suit kept him safe. When the danger escalated, he called for help, and his team pulled him out before he was swallowed.
The dramatic stunt, part of a Discovery Channel film, was meant to shock people into caring about the Amazon’s threatened ecosystem.
Rosolie said he was inspired by the rainforest’s burning and wanted a bold way to capture attention on conservation issues.
