Animal lovers mourn the passing of Seven, the premature foal born in February 2024. Despite difficult odds, he survived for over a year under the loving care of his owner Katie Van Slyke.
Katie hoped for many more days filled with Seven’s joyful sounds and presence in the pasture. But last week’s intense heat triggered colic, leading to a tough decision with veterinary experts to end his pain humanely.

The University of Tennessee veterinary school helped Seven through multiple surgeries and therapy. Before his passing, he was marked with a “Power T” in tribute.
Katie often shared his journey online, gathering support for his fierce spirit. In honor of Seven, a scholarship was established to support veterinary students and the university annually.

Katie expressed deep appreciation for all who aided Seven. His story remains a testament to resilience and love.
