Women Report Vaginal Changes Linked to Ozempic, Termed ‘Ozempic Vulva’

Ozempic’s rise brings new concerns, including a little-known side effect called “Ozempic vulva” reported by some women.

Used to treat diabetes and aid weight loss, Ozempic slows digestion and prolongs fullness but may cause side effects like nausea, constipation, and stomach pain. Recently, users noticed sagging skin around the vulva, muscle weakness in the vagina, and dryness.

Dr. Tahery says these symptoms can involve sagging labia, weaker vaginal muscles, and dryness. Online communities have been discussing these changes.

Rapid weight loss leads to skin sagging, including the vaginal area, notes Dr. Justin Perron. Fat loss beneath the skin contributes to a deflated appearance.

Muscle loss from Ozempic might weaken pelvic floor muscles, says gynecologist Dr. Melanie Bone, who also points to hormonal shifts and dehydration causing dryness.

Some patients choose dermal fillers for genital rejuvenation.

Though not an official side effect yet, this condition appears widespread enough to merit discussion and awareness.
