How a Pool Prank Ended Our Wedding—and Our Relationship

Before marrying Dylan, he joked about recreating a viral video where the groom throws the bride into a pool. I warned him that if he did that to me, I’d leave. He promised he wouldn’t.

On our wedding day, the sun shone on my carefully crafted dress as my dad held my hand and Dylan and I exchanged vows. Later by the pool, Dylan asked if I trusted him—I said yes, but no surprises.

Suddenly, instead of a romantic dip, he let me fall backwards. I plunged into cold water, dress floating around me, makeup ruined, and hair wet. He laughed with his friends, thrilled at the viral potential. No concern, no apology.

My dad stepped in quietly but firmly. Wrapping his jacket around me, he told Dylan, “She’s done. So are you.” The reception shut down. Dylan’s parents couldn’t reach me. That night, Dylan’s rude message pushed me to block him.

My dad fired Dylan from his job, reminding him they weren’t legally married yet. Dylan left, shocked and alone.

Later, a comforting meal helped me find peace. I donated the dress, letting go of the moment and the man.

What couldn’t be washed away was the broken trust. I learned true love means respect, not jokes at someone else’s expense.

Now, I live peacefully, ready one day for a love who listens and cherishes boundaries.
