On a September morning in 2018, 17-year-old Katelyn Ray’s drive turned fatal when she rear-ended a school bus on a highway in Mississippi. Police found no signs she attempted to brake and discovered her phone still in her hand, leading them to believe she was distracted when the crash happened.
Over a dozen children were on the bus but escaped physical harm. Katelyn, however, died instantly. Her family was left shocked and grieving, having spoken with her just before the accident.

This tragic incident underscores the dangers of using a phone while driving. Looking away even for a moment can have irreversible consequences. It is a call for all drivers, especially young ones, to prioritize safety above all else.
Our thoughts remain with Katelyn’s family, hoping her story helps prevent similar tragedies.
