Suspect Detained in Double Homicide of Couple Murdered on Arkansas Hiking Trail

After a wide-reaching investigation, police have arrested James Andrew McGann in connection with the double murder of Clinton and Cristen Brink. The couple was attacked while hiking with their young daughters in Devil’s Den State Park on July 26.

The young girls managed to escape the scene and alert park staff. Authorities released images of the suspect and a vehicle description during the manhunt, which lasted five days.

McGann, 28, was apprehended in Springdale and has been charged with capital murder. He was previously employed as a teacher but left his prior school before the arrest.

Arkansas law enforcement praised the teamwork that led to the suspect’s capture. The Brink family called their loved ones heroes who gave their lives protecting their children.
