In a heartfelt Instagram update, Katie Piper revealed she will be trying a prosthetic eye shell due to ongoing problems with her left eye. This decision comes after nearly two decades of health struggles following a devastating acid attack when she was 24.
Her ex-boyfriend, Daniel Lynch, orchestrated the attack, causing injuries that required around 400 surgeries. Lynch was imprisoned for life. Katie’s determination to recover and help others won her an OBE honor.
Late in 2023, she shared the strain of a persistent infection and defect in her eye, describing the mental weight of ongoing surgeries.
Now, with the support of an experienced medical team, Katie is beginning the process of fitting a prosthetic eye. She posted procedure footage and invited advice from anyone who has undergone similar journeys.
