Sausage and Cheese Crescent Rolls: A Comfort Food Classic

Crescent rolls filled with sausage and cheese make a delicious and easy treat for breakfast or any gathering. This recipe produces 16 rolls made with store-bought crescent dough filled with cooked sausage, cheddar, and cream cheese, seasoned just right for rich flavor.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper. Cook the sausage in a skillet until it’s nicely browned and set aside to cool a little. Combine the sausage, shredded cheddar, cream cheese, and seasonings in a bowl to make the filling.

Unroll the crescent dough and pull apart into triangles. Add a tablespoon of the sausage mixture at the wide end of each triangle, then roll tightly toward the tip. Place the rolls seam side down on your baking sheet.

For a beautiful, glossy finish, brush with a beaten egg before baking for 12 to 15 minutes. They’re done when they turn golden and the cheese peeks through. Add fresh herbs like parsley or chives for color if you want.

Play with different sausage types or add spices to vary the flavor. These rolls store well in the freezer and reheat easily for whenever you need a quick snack. Pair with marinara, mustard, or ranch dips for a perfect combo.
