Harry Potter Stars Emma Watson and Zoë Wanamaker Both Banned from Driving

Two beloved stars from the Harry Potter films, Emma Watson and Zoë Wanamaker, have both been hit with six-month driving bans on the same day after being caught speeding. Watson, the actress behind Hermione Granger, was clocked driving 26% faster than the speed limit in Oxford last year and received a fine plus a driving ban.

Emma, now 35, declined to attend her court hearing but was handed a $1,400 fine and three penalty points, which added to her existing nine points on her license. These points caused her to receive a six-month ban.

Not far behind, 76-year-old Wanamaker, remembered as flying instructor Madam Hooch in the first movie, was caught speeding by 15% on the M4 near Newbury. She also had nine penalty points before her violation and was fined and banned for six months, with three additional points added.

The court showed no favor despite their fame, treating the two actresses the same under the law. Emma’s acting career is currently on hold as she studies at the University of Oxford, while Zoë Wanamaker has been a familiar face on British television and film for years.
