Final Message from Daughter Before Texas Flood Swept Her Away

A father’s grief is shared worldwide after he revealed the last text from his daughter before she was lost in the catastrophic Texas floods. With over 100 confirmed deaths and many more missing, the disaster has devastated communities.

Joyce Catherine Badon, 21, was with friends near the swollen Guadalupe River when sudden flooding struck. Before she vanished, she texted her father, “We’re being washed away,” and then her phone went silent.

Louis Deppe, leading volunteer rescue efforts, shared this message, capturing the desperate moment. Joyce’s mother, Kellye, confirmed Joyce’s body was found and expressed hope for the safe return of her daughter’s friends, who are still missing.

Ty Badon described how the group was staying at a house owned by Aidan Heartfield’s father. Aidan’s last call to his dad was about helping friends caught in the flood, but the call cut off abruptly.

Officials have criticized the National Weather Service for inadequate warnings, citing staffing issues from budget cuts. The White House, however, defended the agency’s forecasts and dismissed political blame.

This story is a heartbreaking reminder of nature’s force and the ongoing search for those still missing.
