Serbian artist Marina Abramović, known for her daring and boundary-pushing work, recently spoke about a provocative collaboration with fashion designer Riccardo Tisci. In this project, she allowed Tisci to “suck her t**” as part of an artistic expression.
Abramović, who has spent decades exploring the connection between body and art, shared on Massimo Dutti’s YouTube channel that Tisci wanted to create something inspired by art. She responded by saying that since she uses her body as art, he, representing fashion, would perform the act.
Though difficult, Abramović described the collaboration as a powerful fashion statement at the time.
Her work often challenges social norms, like her 1974 performance ‘Rhythm 0,’ where she gave the audience control over her body with various objects. The experience was intense, even life-threatening, but she accepted the risks fully.
In a 2014 interview, she revealed she was prepared to die during that performance and felt fortunate to have lived through it.
