TikTok user Rachel, 33, is raising awareness about skin cancer after a small pink spot on her forehead, first dismissed as a mosquito bite, was diagnosed as basal cell carcinoma. She encourages people to pay attention to any unusual skin changes.
Rachel’s first doctor thought the spot was harmless and told her she was too young for skin cancer. But when the spot started bleeding, she got a second opinion and learned she had cancer. She underwent six weeks of treatment, which was painful and left a sore on her forehead.
She wants to remind everyone to protect their skin from the sun and check for any changes in moles or new growths. Many products now include SPF, so sunburns can be avoided more easily.
Basal cell carcinoma often appears on sun-exposed skin like the face and arms but can develop anywhere. Any mole that grows, changes color, or bleeds should be checked by a doctor. Rachel hopes her story will encourage people to take skin health seriously.
