Easy DIY Mattress Cleaner for Parents Dealing with Bedwetting Stains

Parenting young children often means handling mattress stains from accidents, which can be tough even with mattress protectors. These stains can leave unpleasant smells and marks that are hard to remove.

Katelyn Fagan, a mom and blogger, shared her effective homemade solution for cleaning urine stains on mattresses. Despite her daughter being potty trained for over a year, nighttime accidents were still common, and the mattress protector wasn’t enough to stop stains.

Her cleaning recipe uses household items: hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, dish soap, and optional lavender oil. She mixed 8 ounces of hydrogen peroxide, 3 tablespoons of baking soda, and a drop of dish soap in a spray bottle, adding lavender oil for a fresh scent. She swirled gently to combine without causing foam.

She sprayed the mixture generously on the stains and let it dry completely. Then she vacuumed the baking soda residue. The mattress looked cleaner, stains were diminished, and odors disappeared.

This safe and budget-friendly method is perfect for parents who want to keep their child’s mattress fresh without expensive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
