A disturbing discovery at a private crematorium in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, has led to the arrest of two men after nearly 400 bodies were found piled inside the facility. The site was reportedly neglected, with bodies stacked in a warehouse instead of being properly cremated.
Officials confirmed 383 bodies and six partial remains, with 218 males, 149 females, and 16 unidentified by gender. Eloy Garcia from the Chihuahua prosecutor’s office said the bodies were “irregularly deposited” and left uncremated, thrown carelessly on the floor.
The embalmed bodies may have been stored for up to two years. The crematorium, known as “Plenitud,” served several funeral homes. Some remains had hospital identification tags, while families received false ashes.
Owner José Luis Arellano Cuaron and employee Facundo MR face charges including improper burial and disrespect for human remains. They are in pretrial detention pending a July 4 hearing.
Attorney General César Jáuregui Moreno assured families of full support and vowed a thorough investigation to hold those responsible accountable and minimize further pain for the victims’ relatives.
