Passengers on the Disney Dream cruise ship witnessed a terrifying event when a young girl fell overboard from the fourth deck, roughly 20 feet above the water, on June 29. Her father immediately jumped in after her to save her life.
Chandler, a passenger nearby, described hearing a sudden commotion followed by a scream and a loud splash that sounded more like hitting a hard surface than water. The ship was traveling between Nassau and Grand Bahama Island at the time.
The emergency “man overboard” announcement came just 15 seconds after the incident, alerting crew and passengers. One user on a Disney Dream fan Facebook group shared that the rescue team responded swiftly, saving both the girl and her dad.
Disney Cruise Line commended their crew’s quick and expert response, noting that both guests were safely brought back on board within minutes.
