Donald Trump is facing a new wave of criticism after promoting a fragrance line that boldly aligns itself with his image, stating it’s “for patriots who never back down.” Having previously been linked to various products, from MAGA hats to a smartphone, Trump has now endorsed a scent, announcing it on Truth Social.
While Trump Fragrances are not created or sold by him or his organization, he actively promotes them. The ‘gettrumpfragrances’ website describes the cologne as “your rallying cry in a bottle,” featuring his iconic image and raised fist, meant to embody “strength, power, and victory.” Trump explained that the products, called “Victory 45-47,” are all about “Winning, Strength, and Success” for both men and women.
The fragrances, priced between $199 and $249, are already selling out, indicating their popularity among his supporters. However, the promotion has not been met with universal approval. Critics on social media have labeled it “disgusting” and questioned its legality.
According to Don Fox, former Acting Director of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, presidents generally have exemptions from federal conflicts of interest laws, which might explain the legality of such endorsements, despite ethical concerns.
