At a recent stand-up show, Pete Davidson revealed a painful chapter of his life involving his maternal grandfather, who is currently battling lung cancer. The comedian, known for his openness, shared that he had a troubled relationship with his mom’s dad, who was abusive when he was young.
Davidson said he’s close to his dad’s father but not to his mom’s dad. “He used to beat me,” he said plainly. He described his grandfather as an old-fashioned Irish man with a strong personality.
Despite the grandfather’s illness, Davidson confessed to feeling “low key thrilled” about the cancer diagnosis, though he also wants to support his mother, who is upset by her father’s health struggles.
This revelation comes alongside Davidson’s recent reflections on his highly publicized dating life. He expressed frustration that his relationships often take the spotlight away from his career achievements. Having dated several well-known women, Davidson wishes the focus would shift to his work.
