Elon Musk, the tech titan behind Tesla and SpaceX, has sharpened his criticism of President Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill,” labeling it “insane” and damaging. Musk, who helped Trump win the 2024 election, was tapped to lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to cut unnecessary spending. But he recently left, slamming the bill as an “abomination” that undermined his efforts.
Trump, serving his second term, expressed disappointment, insisting Musk was fully aware of the bill’s contents. The feud intensified when Musk posted on Twitter about Trump’s alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein, later removing the tweets and admitting they went too far. The White House called it an “unfortunate incident.” On June 28, his 54th birthday, Musk returned to Twitter to warn about the bill before a critical Senate vote.
“This bill will wipe out jobs and hurt America’s future!” Musk tweeted, arguing it prioritizes outdated industries over innovation. He called it “political suicide” for Republicans. Despite his warnings, the Senate voted 51-49 to debate the bill, which Trump celebrated as a “great victory.”
On the Pod Force One podcast, Trump downplayed the conflict, saying he’s focused on improving the nation and harbors “no hard feelings.” But when pressed about their relationship, he suggested it’s likely over, citing other priorities. Musk’s ongoing attacks make a reconciliation seem unlikely. This clash between two larger-than-life figures has drawn attention, leaving many curious about the bill’s impact and whether Musk and Trump’s once-close partnership can ever be repaired.
