My Sister Took Over My Wedding, So I Stole Her Spotlight

My wedding was supposed to be my shining moment, but my sister, Lisa, decided it was her stage. When she told me she wanted to announce her pregnancy at my reception, I asked her not to, explaining that my fiancé, Tom, and I had our own big news. She ignored me, and I chose not to confront her. Instead, I waited for her gender reveal party to deliver a surprise that left her stunned.

Lisa has always loved the spotlight. Growing up, she’d crash my birthday parties or make my achievements about her. So, when she strutted into our favorite café two weeks before my wedding, I braced myself. “I’m pregnant!” she declared, loud enough for everyone to hear. I was happy for her—Tom and I had just found out we were expecting too. But when she suggested sharing her news at my wedding to “make it fun,” I firmly said no. I told her we planned to announce our baby during the toasts. Her smile wavered, but she promised to respect my wishes.

On my wedding day, I was glowing, ready to share our joy. But before I could speak, Lisa jumped up, clinked her glass, and shouted, “I’m having a baby!” The room erupted with cheers, and I sat there, my moment stolen. She even smirked at me as guests swarmed her. I was furious but kept my cool, already planning my comeback.

Lisa’s gender reveal was a spectacle: balloons everywhere, a fancy cake, and her basking in attention. I arrived in a loose dress, hiding my five-month bump, since we hadn’t shared our news. When she cut her cake, revealing pink frosting for a girl, the crowd went wild. That’s when I stood up. “I have news too!” I said, holding up two ultrasound photos. “Tom and I are expecting twins!” The room exploded—louder than Lisa’s moment. Friends and family rushed to hug me, and Lisa stood frozen, her face pale.

She stormed out, then came back to yell, “You ruined my day!” I smiled calmly. “Oh, I thought sharing news at someone’s event was okay—you did it at my wedding.” Guests laughed, and Lisa stomped off again. It’s been three months of silence since, and I’m fine with it. My parents think we should apologize, but with twins on the way, I’m too happy to care. For once, I got the last laugh.
