A family outing ended in tragedy when three-year-old Scarlett Jensen was fatally hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident. Her grandmother’s last photo of Scarlett, taken just five minutes before the crash, has since become a poignant memento.
Scarlett was accompanied by her grandmother and two-year-old brother Henry, who also sustained life-threatening injuries. Their mother Samantha tells of the harrowing attempt to save the children as a Chevy Tahoe raced toward them.
Despite courageous efforts, Scarlett died at the scene, while her brother was airlifted to a pediatric hospital with multiple fractures and internal injuries. The grandmother endured several broken bones but survived.
