Buffalo native Raymond Dehn, 24, first vaped at 15 after easy access to disposable devices, later adding THC pens to his routine. On September 13, he suffered a collapsed lung after vaping, leading to an emergency hospital stay.

The pain began sharply between the shoulder blades and intensified rapidly, causing fainting. X-rays confirmed a spontaneous pneumothorax. Doctors linked similar cases to vaping habits.
Dehn spent days in hospital with chest drainage and now lives in fear of relapse. He has quit vaping and switched to alternative nicotine and THC consumption methods, pleading for young people to understand vaping’s potential dangers.
