Erika Kirk’s family was left deeply unsettled by a Jezebel article published two days before Charlie Kirk’s assassination, which claimed to have commissioned witches to curse the conservative leader. Megyn Kelly revealed that Erika was “genuinely rattled” upon hearing about the hex.

The Jezebel piece used a satirical tone, listing whimsical curses like “microphone malfunctions” and sock slippage, but Kelly explained that due to Erika’s Christian faith, the story caused real fear and distress.

In response, Charlie and Erika Kirk asked a friend to pray with them the night before the tragic shooting, seeking spiritual protection and comfort.
Kelly condemned the publication and Etsy marketplace, which hosted sales of witchcraft services, for enabling content she described as irresponsible and harmful.
Despite Jezebel’s removal of the article and subsequent denouncement of political violence, Kelly argued that accountability was necessary for the damage done to the Kirk family.
