During a night visit to Universal’s new Epic Universe park, Kevin Rodriguez Zavala, 32, rode Stardust Racers but became unresponsive immediately afterward. Emergency crews provided lifesaving care, but he was tragically pronounced dead in the hospital.

Zavala, who used a wheelchair due to a spinal condition, was found with a cut and not breathing on-site. Emergency responders acted quickly, but the injuries proved fatal. The ride has been closed pending investigation.

Universal Orlando’s internal investigation shows all ride systems were working as expected, and safety procedures were followed. Florida authorities are continuing their inquiry with findings so far consistent with the park’s report.
The family’s civil rights lawyer, Ben Crump, demands full disclosure of all ride records and footage. The family also practices remembrance through a GoFundMe honoring Kevin’s life.
