Pattie Mallette’s name is known worldwide as Justin Bieber’s mother, but behind that fame lies a story of hardship. Pattie was born in 1975 in Ontario and faced a heartbreaking loss when her five-year-old sister was fatally hit by a car when Pattie was just two.

Her childhood included years of abuse and violence, starting with molestation at a very young age. As a teenager, she struggled with substance use, shoplifting, and mental health challenges. She was expelled from school and experienced trauma from sexual assault during her youth.

Yet, Pattie showed a love for the arts early on and pursued acting and singing, appearing on local TV as a child. When she became pregnant at 17, she raised Justin mostly on her own, supporting his early musical efforts that eventually made him a global star.
