The loss of eight-year-old Eloise Peck during the devastating floods at Camp Mystic has left a hole in the hearts of her family and community. Attending a Christian camp on the banks of the Guadalupe River, Eloise and her friends were caught in a rare and deadly flood that caused massive destruction and loss of life.
Eloise’s mother, Missy Peck, continues to grieve but says she has found moments of peace and signs she believes are from Eloise. One evening as they sat by a bonfire, Missy saw a distinct “E” appear in the bright blue sky, interpreting it as Eloise’s way of showing she is now watching over them from heaven.

This isn’t unique to Missy; other parents of Camp Mystic victims have recounted moments of comfort, such as ladybug appearances connected to their children, sparking hope in the midst of tragedy. The families have founded Heaven’s 27 Foundation, dedicated to protecting children and pushing new camp safety legislation designed to stop such disasters.
Eloise’s story is one of heartbreak but also faith and resilience. Her memory lives on in the love of her family and the determination to keep other children safe.
