Cassidy Trevan’s life was marked by relentless bullying in Melbourne. Psychologically tormented and sometimes physically hurt, she struggled with attacks at school, online harassment, and even vandalism at her home. The torment led her to stop attending school during a difficult period.
After a break and some support, she returned part-time, after her bullies apologized and invited her to a festival. Unfortunately, this was a trap. Cassidy was sexually assaulted by two older boys in a house arranged by those same girls. She bravely reported the attack, but without enough evidence, the case was closed and no arrests were made.
Bullying continued despite changing schools and moving homes. Her mother, Linda, supported Cassidy through difficult times, but the emotional toll grew unbearable. Cassidy ultimately ended her life in December 2015.
After her death, Linda found a letter in which Cassidy warned students and parents about the dangers of bullying and urged victims to fight. Her words created awareness and inspired many.
Cassidy’s story highlights the serious consequences of bullying and the importance of support and action to protect vulnerable youth.
