Emmanuel Haro, a seven-month-old infant, was tragically killed, leading to the arrest of his parents, Jake and Rebecca Haro. The baby was missing for days before a search was launched.
Investigators believe Emmanuel experienced ongoing abuse. Jake Haro confessed during a prison “Perkins Operation” that he killed Emmanuel and left him in a trash can.
Rebecca’s initial story blamed a stranger, but inconsistencies prompted police to detain her as well.
Jake later changed his story, admitting to suffocating Emmanuel accidentally and burying him near a freeway. He even helped search teams in Moreno Valley.
The District Attorney criticized Jake’s past child abuse case, noting the lack of prison time despite the gravity.
The family has other children; their toddler daughter is in state custody. Court proceedings have been delayed while a related abuse investigation continues.
