A growing number of doctors warn about a part of the face called the “triangle of death,” where popping a pimple could have serious, even fatal, consequences.
This triangular area spans from the nose’s sides to the mouth corners, including the nose itself. Behind this area is a vein called the cavernous sinus, closely connected to the brain.

Dr. Suraj Kukadia, a TikTok doctor, shares that infections caused by popped pimples here may spread to the brain through these veins, causing cavernous sinus thrombosis—a blood clot or infection that can be life-threatening.

Though extremely rare, this risk means you should never pop pimples in this zone.
Signs of trouble include redness, pain, swelling, fever, or spreading swelling across the face. If these appear, urgent medical attention is required.

Instead of popping, treat spots gently with medicated creams and warm compresses until they heal.
Awareness of this “triangle of death” could prevent serious complications from a seemingly harmless pimple.
