Kylee Monteiro, 18 and 11 weeks pregnant, was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, Gregory Groom, who then buried her in his grandparents’ backyard in Rehoboth, Massachusetts.
Days before her death on August 7, Kylee sent a distressing text to her sister, saying she had been attacked and strangled by Groom, adding her phone was dying in case she didn’t survive.

Groom reported her missing the next day, claiming she had left his house after an argument. Kylee had recently come from a residential program.
Concern mounted as Kylee, active on social media, suddenly stopped posting. She had announced her pregnancy and described Groom as caring.

Faith Monteiro dismissed rumors of abuse in their relationship.

Groom was first charged with assault-related offenses, but after allegedly confessing to stabbing Kylee multiple times behind a shed and burying her, police intensified their investigation.
He drew a rough map to help locate her body, which was found buried and concealed.
Groom remains in custody awaiting a hearing.
Kylee had just finished high school; paternity of her child is unknown.
Friends describe her as joyful and caring toward animals.
The district attorney expressed condolences and called for patience during this difficult time.
A memorial vigil will be held in Rehoboth on August 23.
